BSEE Participates in Regional Response Team 6 Meeting

Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) staff participated and presented remarks Tuesday at the Regional Response Team 6 (RRT6) Meeting in Addison, TX. BSEE Gulf of Mexico Deputy Regional Director Michael Prendergast and Bryan Rogers of the Oil Spill Response Division (ORSD) detailed oil spill monitoring and response plans in the Gulf of Mexico. They also explained BSEE’s role within a unified command, specifically as it relates to source control.

A federal component of the National Response System, RRT6 plans, prepares, and responds to oil spills and releases of hazardous substances within its area of responsibility. The Region 6 team is comprised of federal representatives who operate in the 5-state area; Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. BSEE, and other Federal Agencies including EPA, Coast Guard, NOAA, and State Agencies are members of the RRT6 and work together for continuous improvement of response efforts to pollution incidents.
