Today, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) Director Brian Salerno delivered the commencement address to the first class of graduates of the Offshore Incident Investigations Training Program (OIITP), held at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Charleston, South Carolina.
The OIITP was led by experienced BSEE investigators with FLETC support. The course provided a practical understanding of how to plan, conduct and conclude an incident investigation. Topics of instruction included information and data gathering, evidence collection and interviewing. The 19 graduates were provided classroom instruction, workshops, case studies and a 'hands on' practical scenario conducted on the Cape Chalmers, a cargo ship located at the training center.
