Bobby Kurtz

Acting Director of the BSEE Pacific OCS Region

 

Bobby Kurtz is the acting Director of the BSEE Pacific OCS Region in Camarillo, California. He is responsible for supervising the regulation of operations, inspection and enforcement programs as well as overall protection and safety of activities and environmental compliance on submerged federal lands leased for oil, gas and other mineral or energy development. In addition to his oversight responsibilities, he manages a staff of 30, including petroleum engineers, structural engineers, geologists, geophysicists, environmental scientists, and administrative staff.

Kurtz graduated from Florida State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Geology. He has almost 20 years of experience in the oil & gas industry: serving 4 years as a geophysicist with the Minerals Management Service and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management in the Gulf of America Region, before transferring to the BSEE Pacific Outer Continental Shelf Region in 2012, where he worked his way up from staff geoscientist to Regional Supervisor for the Office of Production and Development, serving 6 years in that capacity.
