Michael Idziorek

Deputy Associate Director for Offshore Regulatory Programs

Michael (Mike) Idziorek is the Deputy Associate Director for Offshore Regulatory Programs (OORP). Mike is an Air Force veteran and has 25 years of civilian experience at different levels of government. Following a career in Law Enforcement, Mike joined BSEE in 2011 as a Special Investigator in the Safety and Incident Investigations Division (SIID). In that role, Mike has been part of, or served as, the Chair for BSEE Panel Investigations tasked with investigating fatalities and other significant incidents. Those assignments afforded him the opportunity to work closely with staff from different parts of the Bureau. Mike spearheaded BSEE’s Offshore Incident Investigations Training Program (OIITP) as the course designer and lead instructor. This worked towards establishing the continuity of the Bureau’s investigation process and as a BSEE centric course tailored to the needs of field investigators and inspectors.

Mike was promoted to Chief of the SIID in 2019 and had been supervising staff efforts to modernize incident reporting systems and management of data from investigations before moving to OORP as the Deputy Associate Director managing the daily operations of the office. Mike promotes OORP as a service organization that provides needed assistance to all BSEE Regions, Programs and Units, always challenging his staff with, “What have you done for the folks in the field today?”

Mike received his BS in Geoscience from Southern New Hampshire University.
