BSEE Prepares for 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season

June 1st marked the beginning of the 2014 Atlantic hurricane season. In its 2014 outlook, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting that 3-6 hurricanes will form this season. Should a storm enter the Gulf of Mexico and disrupt offshore oil and gas operations, BSEE will post updated activity statistics on https://www.bsee.gov/ each day at 2 pm EDT.

BSEE has also posted a video describing the bureau's Hurricane Response Team (HRT). In it, members of of the team explain their roles during a storm and how the Gulf of Mexico Region works to protect oil and gas industry personnel and the environment during extreme weather events associated with hurricane season.
