BSEE Gulf Region Hosts District Managers Meeting

BSEE Gulf Region Hosts District Managers Meeting

This week, the BSEE Gulf of Mexico Region hosted the District Managers Meeting at the Gulf Region Office in New Orleans. The meetings were held on Tuesday, February 25 through Thursday, February 27.

BSEE Director Brian Salerno presented opening remarks via a video teleconference on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Director Salerno discussed current issues with the district managers, including: continued efficient data management, the importance of safety investigations and their effect on regulations, and the potential for BSEE to increase its research of numerous emerging technologies.

“These District Manager meetings are held to discuss the latest events related to district operations, to ensure consistency in district practices and communications, and to review concerns that have arisen since our last meeting,' said Michael Saucier, Regional Supervisor in the Gulf Region for District Field Operations. “The meetings encourage a productive dialogue that allows us to thoroughly discuss issues and come to the best resolutions.”

The five Gulf Region District Offices are located in: Houma, Lafayette, Lake Charles, and New Orleans, La., and Lake Jackson, Texas. Representatives from those five district offices as well as the California District Office from the BSEE Pacific Region attended the meeting. The District Offices carry out a comprehensive field inspection program on offshore drilling rigs and production platforms both in the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean. The offices also review drilling and well permit applications to ensure all safety requirements are met.
