BSEE Joins Scientists Studying 19th Century Shipwreck

July 16, 2013- Tomorrow BSEE Senior Marine Archaeologist Chris Horrell will join a national team of scientists aboard the Ocean Exploration Trust's Explorer Vessel (E/V) Nautilus to study the Monterrey Shipwreck Site 15577 in the Gulf of Mexico. The site was discovered by Shell Oil in 2011 while studying a lease site. They reported it to BSEE and BOEM, which led to this continued research in 4,000 feet of water.

Horrell is BSEE's Federal Preservation Officer and leads BSEE's responsibilities to insure offshore oil and gas operations monitor and protect underwater historical artifacts. Click here for live images of this research. For more information about Chris and BSEE's role, click here.
