This week the BSEE Gulf of Mexico Region staff met with a group of about 10 representatives of the Offshore Operators Committee in New Orleans, LA. The meeting, led by Gulf of Mexico Region Director Lars Herbst, is held quarterly and is an opportunity for staff to discuss pertinent topics with members of the offshore oil and gas industry.
The group listened to detailed presentations from BSEE personnel on regulatory issues, status of the idle iron initiative, and the Safety Environmental Management System (SEMS) program. Open discussion was encouraged to ensure all parties involved are able to plan and prepare for the safest operations possible. The open dialogue is part of BSEE's commitment to promoting a proactive safety culture and protecting personnel working on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf.
