BSEE Director Brian Salerno delivered the keynote address yesterday at the Ocean Energy Safety Institute's (OESI) Forum on Eliminating Barriers to Data Sharing and Solutions at the University of Houston. Director Salerno spoke to attendees about the importance of sharing safety information to improve performance. He then challenged the oil and gas industry to remove the barriers in place that prevent important information from being shared that can improve safety offshore.
The two-day forum includes participants from government, academia, the oil and gas industry and the public. The objective of this forum is to promote dialogue and shared learning on the topics of data gaps, responsibility for data collection and analysis. Future OESI forums will cover topics such as ocean energy safety research, human factors and best available and safest technologies. More information about OESI and forums can be found here.
